Overview

Reporting to the Director, QA Products, this position manages the production of an assigned major menu item and other menu products in compliance with Company standards / specifications; manages QA auditing activities of manufacturer / distributor facilities, restaurants and other support facilities.

*** This is a heavy travel position - 50% domestic, 10% international. ***

Key Accountabilities Include

• Developing and updating quality assurance programs, as necessary, to ensure the compliance of assigned products and associated processing facilities with Company standards and specifications and government regulations
• Developing the plan of action and product audit, lab testing and inspection schedule, ensuring timely audits of all plants and processing facilities with respect to quantity and priority, based on past audits or product evaluation(s)
• Maintaining up-to-date specifications on supplier sign-offs, making recommendations on the continued use of Wendy's suppliers and distributors based upon ability to consistently maintain the standards and specifications established by the company
• Managing the external auditing program with ASI, AIB and consultants on product slaughter and processing plants
• Performing the on-site audits at domestic and international product processing and kill facilities, as necessary, to approve suppliers, assess compliance, animal welfare or resolve quality problems
• Conducting quality assurance of all manufacturers and distributors of assigned products and Wendy's restaurants to ensure compliance with Company standards concerning food safety, quality control, etc.
• Providing technical assistance to other departments pertaining to new product development, product enhancements and second sourcing projects related to assigned products
• Developing solutions and providing recommendations to suppliers, QA and / or Operations for corrective actions needed for areas of non-compliance in processing plants or audits

Qualifications

Education / Experience

• BS / BA, Food Science or related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience
• 5 years experience in food plant management
• Knowledge of food slaughter and processing technology and equipment, food science, chemistry, microbiology and HACCP
